Hi everyone! It’s Ashlea here and I am so thrilled to be guesting on The Stamp Market blog today! Today, I’m sharing this card I made using the Bloominous Stamp and Die set and the Botanical Beauty die. These two work so well together and I paired them today in a way that makes a big impact.
Let me show you my process. First, I cut out the Botanical Beauty die using black card stock. This die cuts such a pretty and intricate leaf design and I knew immediately I wanted to use it against white card stock to help it stand out. Using this die rather than the stamp of the leaf in the stamp set creates more dimension and interest in the design and a bolder image than what you would get from stamping. I carefully glued these die cuts to a piece of 4”x5 1/4” white card stock using a very fine tip glue and trimmed the edges so that nothing was hanging off of the card front. I was left with a really striking background design and knew that I needed to add some pops of color to offset the black and white.
I used my MISTI to stamp all of the floral and leaf images from the Bloominous stamp set at once in Memento Tuxedo black ink so that I could use Copic Markers to color these images in. I chose bright and cheery colors in pink, orange, purple, and blue for my florals and used my favorite green leaf combination of YG01, YG25, and YG67 for the leaves.
After I cut them out with the coordinating dies, I arranged them in the center of my card front as a sort of bed for my sentiment. The color of these florals created such great contrast with the black and white background, but I still wanted a little more of a pop before I was happy with the design. I decided to keep a piece of bright yellow glitter paper handy (because glitter paper is always a good idea!)
For my sentiment I chose “I’m Here For You” from the All Lined Up stamp set because it’s in a rectangular format and I thought it would look really nice in the center of the card front. This is when my “a-ha” moment came for my extra pop of color. I trimmed down my sentiment piece and adhered it to the piece of yellow glitter card stock that I’d grabbed earlier, trimming around the sentiment leaving a bit of a border so that the glitter card stock was peeking out all around.
When I decided I was happy with the placement of the flowers, I adhered them with glue and then used foam tape to adhere my sentiment piece directly on top of the flowers. This made it appear as if the flowers were growing around the sentiment. Finally, I adhered it all to an A2 sized card base and added a few clear half beads to add a little shine and dimension.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about how I created this card. To me, this card embodies The Stamp Market’s signature bold yet beautiful style with the crisp black lines and cheery florals working in harmony. Thanks so much for stopping by, have a wonderful day!
