Hey, there! Ashlea here, and I’m thrilled to be with you on The Stamp Market blog today.
I’ve gotten so much inspiration from the July release and I’d love to share some of it with you today. The new Big Botanicals stamp and die set has earned it’s way to one of the top 3 spots of my all time favorites. The imagery is bold yet understated and the perfect way to compliment an image or star as the focal point of a design. In my video, I show an easy and effective way to create a simple and stunning design using the Big Botanicals and Lovely Labels stamp and die sets.
For the focal point of my cards, I create a larger die cut shape out of the individual die cuts from the Big Botanicals set. To do this, I gather all of my die cuts together and arrange them underneath the largest cut die from the Lovely Labels set. Once I’ve got them all where I want them, I tape them into place with low tack painters tape and run it through my die cutting machine. I then removed all of the pieces cut from the outer edge leaving only the inside die cut pieces still adhered to the die with the tape. This allows me to apply foam tape to the back of the die cuts and adhere them, already arranged in the shape I want, to my card front.
For the card itself, I left the design very simple to highlight the colors I chose for the botanical stamps and the shape the die cuts are arranged in. The sentiment is from the Lovely Labels stamp set and I stamped it on a precut piece of card stock that I used the die and stitched die set on. The stitching gave a subtle bit of interest, and adhering it to the center of the focal piece helped draw the eye without adding details that take away from the design.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed learning a bit about how I created these cards today. Leave a comment to let me know which of the two you like best and if you’ve tried a similar technique! Thanks for stopping by. I hope to see you again soon!
