Hello there! It’s Rebecca here today and it’s hard to believe all that has happened since I was here last time. There are a lot of folks feeling isolated and alone, and now more than ever is the time when we paper crafters and card makers can brighten someone’s day.
I created several simple, but colorful cards to send out using the Circles & Such set with some different sentiments. I kept them simple so that I could make a lot and also, so they would be easy to send, meaning they will only require 1 stamp. If I decide to include several of them in a care package, the weight will stay low.
Since I have the ability and supplies to make an infinite number of cards, I thought that sending a handful out to some lesser-stocked friends and family might be a nice idea. Each card follows a simple set-up–a folded A2 (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) cardstock base and a matted white panel with a stamped design on it.
I made cards for both males and females. It can be easy to overlook the men when most of us want to put flowers on everything (I’m guilty of that, as well!), but there are many men who are isolated now, too. While I’m sure many of them would enjoy a cheerful card with some flowers on it, neutral and/or masculine designs and colors are easy to accomplish with all of The Stamp Market ink colors, and most of the designs from Circles & Such can be neutral.
To take things one step further, and have a little more fun with this project, I asked my 7-year-old daughter if she wanted to help, too. She loves stamping with me and we, too, are spending most of our hours inside, so she was excited to participate. I know that her grandparents and friends will love getting a bit of happy mail from her, especially since it’s handmade. (She tried her very best and got pretty inky in the process!)
Your cards will be sure to put a smile on someone’s face and bring some sunshine and warmth into estranged lives. Perhaps you have family or friends who need a pick-me-up, or maybe a neighbor. Nursing homes and senior centers are also wonderful places to send handwritten notes, too. It’s a nice way to make a small difference in this uncertain time. I hope all of you and yours stay safe out there.
