HOT Foiling Tips & Tricks

Valentines is just around the corner and what better way to say Love than a little sparkle with some Hot Foil!! We are just delighted today to welcome Dilay Nacar as our guest sharing with you some great tips for using your foil plates.

Hi, everyone! It’s Dilay here and I am so excited to be sharing a few foiled Valentine’s Day cards with all of you today!
These cards are easy to recreate and I’ve included some tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way; hopefully, they will inspire you to create some of your own! Let’s get started!

STEPS

    1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to use as a base
    2. Die-cut the Leafy Goodness die twice, in white, and adhere on the base, mirroring one another to create a subtly textured background
    3. Foil the Simply Plaid Foil Plate onto smooth white cardstock with champagne gold foil
    4. Die-cut the foiled piece with the Pretty Poster Upper letters, then die-cut once more with Fresh Pink cardstock and adhere that (offset) behind foiled letters then to the center of the card with foam tape
    5. Stamp and heat emboss the sub-sentiment from the Bunch of Love Notes Stamp Set in gold onto Pretty Pink cardstock and adhere over the center of letters
    6. Die-cut the Love & Confetti Die in white, Lipstick, Cherry, Raspberry, and Bubble Gum and adhere the white die cuts to the background and the color hearts over top of the letter

      STEPS

      1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to use as a base
      2. Place the Dotted Scallop Cover die along the top 1/3rd, secure with low tack tape, and run through the die-cutter to create a partial cut
      3. Rotate the panel and repeat the above step
      4. Foil the Hugs and hearts Foil Plate onto smooth white cardstock with gold foil and die-cut with the coordinating die, then twice more in white and adhere behind the foiled die-cut then to the center of the card with liquid glue
      5. Die-cut hearts from the Love & Confetti Die in Lipstick, Cherry, Bubble Gum, Party Pink, Salmon, and Blush colors and adhere to the card (saving the leftovers for a future card!)
      6. Stamp and heat emboss Love You from the Bunch of Love Notes Stamp Set onto Cherry cardstock and adhere it to the card with foam tape

      STEPS

      1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to use as a base
      2. Die-cut the Scatter Hearts Cover Die in white and adhere it to the base
      3. Die-cut the Leafy Goodness and Bitty Botanicals Dies in white, Raspberry, and Blush Pink
      4. Foil the Happy Valentine’s Day Foil Plate onto smooth white cardstock with gold foil, die-cut with the coordinating die, then twice more in white, and adhere behind foiled die-cut
      5. Adhere leaves to the center, then the foiled die-cut on the top
      6. Adhere a few of the leftover hearts from the previous card to the foiled sentiment
      7. Cut the Love & Confetti die once more in gold cardstock and add the tiny circles to the leaves and stems

      STEPS

      1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to use as a base
      2. Foil the Open Hearts Hot Foil Plate onto smooth white cardstock with gold foil twice
      3. Die-cut the foiled pieces with the Curved Cover Die twice and adhere the first four arches onto the card base
      4. Die-cut the Hugs Layering Die six times using Bubble Gum, Cherry, Raspberry, Fresh Pink, Party Pink, and Diamond Glitter card-stock
      5. Adhere the layers together, slightly offset, then onto the center of the arches
      6. Stamp and heat emboss the sub-sentiment from the Bunch of Love Notes Stamp Set in gold onto white cardstock and adhere over the layered Hugs
      7. Die-cut the Love & Confetti die in the same colors (Bubble Gum, Cherry, Raspberry, Fresh Pink, and Party Pink) and adhere the heart die cuts to the background, off-setting them onto each of the heart outlines

      STEPS

      1. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4.25” x 5.5” to use as a base
      2. Die-cut the Heart to Heart Cover die in white and adhere to the base
      3. Die-cut the Heart to Heart Cover Die in Raspberry, Bubble Gum, Cheeky, and Blush
      4. Inlay the hearts into the white cover in a gradient, from darkest to lightest pink
      5. Die-cut the Leaf Goodness die and Bitty Botanicals in Raspberry, Bubble Gum, Cheeky, and Blush, and white
      6. Foil the Hearts n Hugs Foil Plate onto smooth white cardstock with gold foil, die-cut with the coordinating die, then twice more in white and adhere behind foiled die-cut
      7. Adhere the leaves to the center, then the foiled die-cut on the top
      8. Adhere a few of the leftover gold circles from the previous card to the leaves

Love the way you used the simply plaid foil background and used it to die cut the word love. Such a great idea. Not only does it look amazing, but it is a great way to stretch your foil cover plates!
