PAINTED NOTECARDS
The vellum also gives these pretty florals a touch of dimension, when only adhered in the center of the bow, as I've done here. The gorgeous sentiments perfectly accent the whimsy style.
For the next design, I've colored things up with a gouache-alternative, which is one of my all-time favorite mediums. It sits somewhere between acrylic paint and watercolor. I love that it allows for opaque coloring over colored cardstock, and that it’s a relatively inexpensive and easy medium to work with. While you can easily invest into a starter set and get going with this medium, I have an even better alternative, which will stretch the supplies you already have!
This method allows you to create your very own custom colors and takes no time at all to whip up.
All you need is some good quality white acrylic paint, and a few of your favorite dye re-inkers. The paint acts as a base, and your re-inkers do all the tinting. I created every color on these florals using the Color Crush collection of re-inkers. To start, simply add a drop or two of your favorite re-inker, or even a combination of re-inker colors, to a dab of white paint, and you’ll have your very own palette in no time
For softer hues, I added more white, and for bolder ones, more re-inker droplets.
For the yellows, I used Citrine. For the pink florals, I used the Coral re-inker, and for the leaves, a combination of Mossy, Leafy, and Sea Glass. I also added some Navy for the darkest leaves.
Once I had my palette, I stamped the Bunches of Love floral using a no-line ink, and colored everything up. The best part about this method, is that you only have to pay attention to the outer lines. The details get added back when the image is heat-embossed, so it takes the fuss out of coloring. Also, feel free to color over-top the heat-embossing, as I did for the flower centers, and add two coats of paint when needed.
To wrap up the bundle, I used the Notecards for You stamp and dies, which are the cutest little things ever! This set is so versatile, I cannot wait to give a try for other projects…Perhaps gifts from the kitchen!
Thanks for visiting, Friends. Wishing you a happy, crafty, joyful day!
